"My greatest passion is working with educators to help them better understand and develop strategies to work with struggling students."
--Gretchen Schmidt Mertes, M.Ed.
[ Supporting students, families, and educators ] My private practice was established in 2008 to help meet the growing need for skilled services for children and youth with autism spectrum disorders and related social cognitive challenges, specifically in the school setting. I specialize in working to improve the social and educational lives of children, youth, and their families. Using the methodology of Social Thinking® and the work of Michelle Garcia Winner as the basic framework, it is my belief that individuals are able to develop in social competencies and, in turn, demonstrate increased educational growth.
